Fedde, UNLV put clamps on Bulldogs, 6-0

Erick Fedde allowed just five hits over seven shutout innings to help the UNLV baseball team to a 6-0 road win against Fresno State in the opener of a three-game series on Friday night at Fresno, Calif.

Fedde, who struck out 11 and walked just one, improved to 6-1 on the season with the victory.

Justin Jones and Patrick Armstrong each had two hits for UNLV (21-8, 10-3 Mountain West). Joey Armstrong drove in a run and scored twice.

Patrick Armstrong opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning that plated Jones, who singled then stole second and third.

Fresno State (16-14, 6-7) hosts the second game of the series at 6:35 p.m. today. The series finale will be at 1:05 p.m. Sunday.
