Air Force sends UNLV baseball team to fourth straight loss

Air Force roughed up UNLV starter John Richy en route to a 14-4 Mountain West baseball victory Friday at Colorado Springs, Colo., the Rebels’ fourth straight loss.

Richy (6-3) allowed 10 runs — five earned — on 11 hits and two walks in six innings for UNLV, which committed three errors. He struck out eight.

The Rebels, ranked 20th by Baseball America, trailed 7-0 after the first, an inning in which they committed two errors that led to five unearned runs.

UNLV (25-14, 13-7) finished with 15 hits, with Justin Jones, Patrick Armstrong, Erik VanMeetren, Joey Armstrong, Edgar Montes and Morgan Stotts getting two apiece. VanMeetren drove in two runs.

Air Force (13-25, 4-13) has won four straight.

The teams meet at 11 a.m. today in the series finale.
