Former champ Rousey ‘excited’ she can once again bite an apple

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight champ Ronda Rousey may be one step closer to returning to the cage.
A few weeks after losing her title to Holly Holm as a result of a crushing head kick during a fight in Melbourne, Australia, Rousey told ESPN.com she couldn’t even enjoy a delicious piece of fruit due to the damage that was done to her mouth.
“It might be three to six months before I can eat an apple, let alone take an impact,” she said in the first interview she granted after losing the belt.
Almost four months to the day after her loss, Rousey demonstrated the progress she has made.
Rousey posted a video Monday on the Twitter feed of Uninterrupted of her taking a huge bite out of an apple with a big smile.
During the video, she mentions she had been discussing Uninterrupted’s role as a means for athletes to talk to the public without the information being disseminated through a middle man while she was at the South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas over the weekend.
“Here’s my breaking news, just as of last night,” she says before taking a bite. “I’m back biting apples again. No problem. I’m biting apples again. I’m pretty excited about this.”
Holm lost the belt to Miesha Tate earlier this month in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White said Tate’s first title defense is likely to come against Rousey when she is ready to return.
