Rain on its way to Las Vegas

Don’t wash your cars, folks! Rain is on the way, according to the National Weather Service.

The stormy weather will start Saturday, but should stay over northwest Arizona and the Spring Mountains at first, according to weather service meteorologist Chris Outler. The Las Vegas Valley probably won’t see rain until Sunday.

A flash flood watch will go into effect at 10 a.m. Sunday and will expire 5 a.m. Tuesday. Sunday and Monday might bring scattered thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to some areas.

Weekend highs will hover around the 100-degree mark, and the high temperature of 97 degrees on Sunday will drop to 93 on Monday. The low for Sunday is expected to be 77 degrees, and Monday’s is forecast at 75.

Scattered clouds may hang around into Wednesday, Outler said, but the valley should be drying out by then.
