March 30, 2016 - 9:51 pm
UFC 200 officially has a main event.
Conor McGregor will get a rematch against Nate Diaz in the main event of the historic card July 9 at T-Mobile Arena.
Also, former featherweight champion Jose Aldo will fight former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar for the Ultimate Fighting Championship interim featherweight title, the organization announced Wednesday.
Diaz defeated McGregor, who is still the featherweight champion, by submission in a welterweight bout March 5. The loss was the first for McGregor in his UFC career and his first in any organization since 2010.
A rematch had been rumored for several weeks, but now has been officially booked. It again will be contested at 170 pounds.
Edgar has won five consecutive fights since losing to Aldo for the featherweight belt in 2013. Aldo held the title until he was knocked out by McGregor in December.
Four fights already had been announced for the card. Former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez will fight Travis Browne, and former welterweight champ Johny Hendricks will meet Kelvin Gastelum. Also, Derek Brunson will fight Gegard Mousasi in a middleweight bout, and lightweight Diego Sanchez will meet Joe Lauzon.
