Driver taken to hospital after crash; Wigwam, Torrey Pines reopened

A man was trapped in an SUV and later hospitalized with minor injuries following a crash on Wigwam Avenue And Torrey Pines Drive Sunday afternoon.

Authorities were called to the area shortly after 1 p.m. A blue sedan and an SUV crashed and trapped the SUV’s driver, Metro Lt. John Liberty said.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was trapped and suffered minor injuries including a “possible broken hand,” Liberty said. He was extricated and taken to St. Rose Dominican Hospital – Siena Campus.

Traffic in the area was blocked while the crash was investigated but was cleared by 3 p.m., Liberty said.
