Girl, 4, killed in Las Vegas crash

A 4-year-old girl died and a driver was taken into custody after a two-vehicle car crash that closed the Carey Avenue and Sandy Lane intersection Saturday afternoon, according to Las Vegas police.

About 3:35 p.m., police were called to the scene where a silver pickup rear-ended a white sedan with a family of four inside.

Metro spokesman Lt. Ken Romaine said all four were taken to a hospital where the 4-year-old was pronounced dead and a 2-year-old was in critical condition. The parents’ conditions were not immediately known.

Romaine said the truck driver was taken to the Clark County Detention Center. No charges were immediately filed.

It is unknown how long the intersection will be closed.
