Arrest made in Henderson homeless man’s slaying

Henderson police arrested a homeless man Saturday in connection with a death of another man at a homeless encampment on Thursday.

Amos Martinez, 35, was being held without bond in the Henderson Detention Center. He is facing murder and robbery charges.

A 44-year-0ld man was found dead at a homeless encampment in a desert near Lake Mead Parkway and Warm Springs Road. Police said Martinez got into a disagreement with the man and then beat him to death. Martinez also took the man’s flashlight after killing him, police said.

Martinez lived in another desert encampment close to where the man was found dead.

The Clark County coroner’s office will release the man’s identity once next of kin has been notified.
