Motorcyclist killed in crash on Summerlin Parkway

A 22-year-old man died after an early Friday morning motorcycle crash on the Summerlin Parkway, near U.S. Highway 95 and Rainbow Boulevard, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The motorcycle rider was westbound about 2:30 a.m. in the HOV lane on the Summerlin Parkway flyover when he lost control, struck the right side of the retainer wall and catapulted onto the southbound lanes of U.S. 95 below. He died at the scene.

NHP trooper Loy Hixson said the man’s identification and the bike’s registration showed he was from Arizona, but Hixson believes he had some ties to Las Vegas.

The man was wearing a helmet and gloves when he crashed, but it’s unknown if alcohol was involved. Hixson said speed was definitely a factor.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 95 were shutdown for about four hours due to the crash but have reopened.
