This story was altered on Dec. 26, 2014, to correct the date of the crash. The crash took place on Aug. 6, not June 6.
The cause of death for a woman who was injured in an August car crash and died the next day was released Tuesday, four months after her death, Las Vegas police said.
Lorraine Allen, 94, died of blunt force injuries because of a motor vehicle collision, according to a news release. Metro passed along what it learned from the Clark County coroner’s office the day it got the information.
On Aug. 6, Allen, who was driving a 1998 Buick Park Avenue, was turning left onto Harmon Avenue from Jones Boulevard when she collided with a 2014 Honda Accord headed north on Jones.
Allen and a 22-year-old passenger in the Honda were taken to University Medical Center with injuries that medical personnel said were not life-threatening, according to police.
The coroner’s office notified police Aug. 7 that Allen had died from her injuries. They released the cause of her death on Tuesday, police said.
The driver of the Honda, also 22 years old, had minor injuries.
It was the 83rd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
