Warmer temperatures expected to continue in Las Vegas Valley

The warming witnessed this weekend is expected to continue into the coming week, according to the National Weather Service.

The overnight low from Saturday into Sunday was 36 degrees. Sunday’s high is expected to be 59 degrees, and the low is expected to be 44 degrees. The forecasted high on Monday is 61 degrees, and it is likely that the days following will be as warm.

The coming week can expect to see continued high temperatures “generally 60 and higher,” according to National Weather Service meteorologist Chad Shafer. However, Shafer said that these above normal temperatures may be harder to reach if the coming cloud cover is “thicker than forecast.”

Sunday’s sky is expected to remain mostly clear most of the day, but the higher cloud cover is predicted to begin moving into the valley Sunday night and will likely remain for most of the coming week, Shafer said.

Despite these coming clouds, chances for rain in the Las Vegas Valley remain low, with precipitation unlikely Sunday and for next week. Mount Charleston has a 30 percent chance of precipitation Monday and Tuesday, which may materialize as snow or a mixture of rain and snow, Shafer said.

Wind speeds are not expected to increase this week, and “should not be an issue for the foreseeable future,” Shafer said.
