Power restored after two-hour outage in southeast valley

For nearly two hours Tuesday night, more than 13,000 southeast valley NV Energy customers did not have power. An NV Energy spokeswoman said an accident near a substation at 5640 Stephanie St. triggered the temporary blackout.

An outage started just after 8 p.m. and rippled throughout the valley, stretching east of McCarran International Airport and out into the Lake Las Vegas community, according to the agency’s website.

Power was restored at 9:41 p.m., NV Energy spokeswoman Jennifer Schuricht said. Dispatch logs show Clark County Fire responded to a call at the substation site just before 9 p.m. A worker at the substation site said the trespasser was hurt and was airlifted from the scene.
