Motorcyclist killed in northwest valley crash

Updated November 13, 2024 - 10:06 pm

A crash in the northwest Las Vegas Valley left one dead and others injured Wednesday night, police said.

Lieutenant Cody Sulwiler said in a briefing to reporters that officers were investigating a fatal collision around 5:45 p.m. near North Rainbow Boulevard and West Cheyenne Avenue. Three vehicles — a motorcycle and two cars — were involved.

When police responded to the scene, they learned that the motorcycle driver and their passenger had been ejected after colliding with a car. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead on the scene, while the passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, Sulwiler said.

Impairment was not believed to be a factor in the crash, though it did appear that either the motorcycle or car driver was speeding, he said.

The driver of the car remained on the scene and also had minor injuries, Sulwiler said. Due to the collision’s impact, debris hit another car’s undercarriage.

“This is a reminder during the holiday season to reduce your speed and pay attention,” said Sulwiler. “This is another life that will not be at the dinner table this year.”
