Castellanos, 51s swat Bees

Alex Castellanos went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs to power the 51s to an 8-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees in a Pacific Coast League game Friday at Cashman Field.

Castellanos hit RBI singles during Las Vegas’ two-run third inning and two-run fourth before launching his team-leading 16th homer, a two-run shot, in the sixth as Las Vegas (52-38) won its fifth straight.

Brandon Allen put the 51s ahead to stay with a two-run homer, his ninth home run, in the second inning.

Las Vegas starter Dillon Gee (3-1) gave up four runs on nine hits and two walks and struck out three in six innings.

UNLV product Efren Navarro and Kyle Kubitza had two doubles apiece for Salt Lake (34-56), which held a 12-11 edge in hits but went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Kaleb Cowart had a two-run single and also tripled for the Bees, who got two hits each by Josh Rutledge and Gary Brown.

Salt Lake starter Alex Sanabia (1-10) was tagged for six runs, five earned, on eight hits and three walks and struck out one in 3 1/3 innings. Ryan Verdugo gave up two runs and struck out seven in 3 2/3 relief innings.
