Taijeron drives in four runs as 51s pummel RiverCats

Travis Taijeron hit a bases-clearing double as part of a four-run first inning, and the 51s cruised to a 14-2 Pacific Coast League victory in the opener of a four-game series at Sacramento on Tuesday night.

Taijeron drove in four runs for the 51s, and Danny Muno scored three.

Dillon Gee went the distance on the mound to improve to 5-1. He allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out five.

Darrell Ceciliani went 3-for-5 with three RBIs and scored three times for Las Vegas (59-45).

Every 51s position player had at least one hit and all but Brandon Allen scored a run.

Sacramento (46-58) starter Tommy Hanson gave up eight runs, seven earned, on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings. Kelby Tomlinson and Juan Perez each had two hits for the RiverCats.

The series continues at 7:05 p.m. today.
