Updated June 11, 2024 - 10:37 am

The Nevada Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash Thursday morning on northbound Interstate 15 near Primm.

The crash was reported just before 7:35 a.m. at mile marker 1, according to the NHP website.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a black 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck was northbound on I-15 in the far right travel lane. For unknown reasons, the Chevrolet failed to maintain its travel lane and traveled right onto the right shoulder, striking a metal guard rail.

The vehicle proceeded into a dirt/gravel area, where it overturned.

The driver, Frank Anthony Garcia Sr., a 61-year-old male from Long Beach, California, succumbed to injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

NHL’s Southern Command says it has investigated 28 fatal crashes resulting in 35 fatalities this year.
