Willow Fire prompts air advisory for Las Vegas

Smoke from an Arizona wildfire has prompted an air advisory for the Las Vegas Valley, according to the Clark County Department of Air Quality.

The Willow Fire is burning southeast of Needles, Calif. The brush fire started Saturday morning and has since burned over 6,000 acres in the Mojave Valley. Hundreds of homes have been evacuated.

The advisory is set to last through Tuesday.

Unhealthy levels of air pollution are not occurring at this time, according to a news release from the county.

Those with respiratory or heart diseases, children and the elderly are advised to take caution and stay indoors to avoid inhaling airborne smoke or dust.

People should limit outdoor or exercise activity, keep windows closed and consider changing indoor air filters if they are dirty, the release said.

Fire crews are continuing to work to try and contain the fire.
