McGregor throws jabs at Aldo, Mendes and Mayweather in ‘Conan’ appearance — VIDEO

Conor McGregor won’t be fighting Jose Aldo on July 11 at UFC 189 after Aldo withdrew with a rib injury, but that didn’t stop McGregor from throwing several jabs at Aldo and others Thursday during an appearance on “Conan” in which the Irishman also dismissed the superstition that athletes should abstain from sex before competition.
“That is most certainly a superstition that I do not abide by,” the 26-year-old said. “I definitely have as much sex as possible.”
As for Aldo, who has been cleared to fight by a doctor, McGregor said, “The man is running scared. I cannot force him into the Octagon to face me. Really, I cannot hold a grudge against him because I would not want to face me either. I was going to destroy him, make no mistake about it.”
Asked if he really thought Aldo was afraid to fight him, McGregor said, in politically incorrect fashion, “He has been medically cleared to fight. Doctors have looked at him and examined him. He went and saw a gynecologist.”
Brushing off brash talk by Chad Mendes, Aldo’s replacement for the interim featherweight title bout at the MGM Grand Garden, McGregor said, “He can talk all he wants. Face to face, man to man, they crumble. He will be no different.”
On the subject of facing Floyd Mayweather Jr., who at 145 pounds fights at the same weight as McGregor, the Irishman said, “If you’re asking would I like to fight Floyd, who woudn’t want to dance around the ring for $180 million?”
While McGregor said Mayweather probably wouldn’t want to get in the Octagon for a mixed-martial arts fight, McGregor said he’d be willing to climb into a boxing ring.
“If we were to get it on, I would certainly dismantle him, also,” McGregor said.
