Gloomy weather won’t affect Halloween

Gloomy weather rolled into the Las Vegas valley Wednesday, but it is expected to clear up before Halloween night.

Wednesday’s cloud coverage brought a trace of rain to McCarran International Airport and kept the high temperature at 79 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

The normal high for this time of year is about 75 degrees, said meteorologist John Salmen, and the valley should be closer to that on Thursday and Friday, he said.

Thursday will see a high near 74 and a low near 61, with chances for light showers into the afternoon. The weather system traveling over the valley is expected to roll out late Thursday afternoon, taking the clouds with it, Salmen said.

The chance of showers will disappear and clouds are expected to thin out Friday, when the valley is expected to see a high of 74 and a low of 55. Winds are forecast at 15 to 25 mph, with gusts to about 45 mph, Salmen said.

“Driving on east and westbound roads could be problematic Thursday and Friday,” meteorologist Chad Schafer said.

Saturday should be mostly sunny with high temperatures back up to about 78 degrees.

“Halloween should be fairly pleasant,” Schafer said.
