Spirit begins service from Sea-Tac airport; Las Vegas flights planned

SEA-TAC, Wash. — Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines has begun serving the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Spirit officials said in a news release the airline began operating flights Thursday night with a trip to Los Angeles.

Spirit will fly twice daily to Los Angeles and will begin flying twice a day to Las Vegas in April. The airline offers connections to many cities around the country through those destinations.

Officials say Spirit is the first new domestic carrier at Sea-Tac since 2008.

The airline has grown rapidly by luring travelers with cheap base fares that undercut the big airlines.
