Small earthquake shakes San Diego area

A magnitude 3.9 earthquake struck an area northeast of San Diego on Wednesday evening but there were no immediate reports of any injuries or serious damage.

The quake hit about 7:19 p.m. about 15 miles east of Anza in southern Riverside County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Anza is in the Mojave Desert, near the San Andreas Fault. The quake was 10 miles deep.

The quake had been measured at 4.4 magnitude by the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, wh0 reported aftershocks in Indio and Temecula.
