Dodgers TV channel picked up by Charter Communications

In the wake of its $56.7 billion takeover of Time Warner Cable that was announced Tuesday morning, Charter Communications plans to soon start offering SportsNet LA, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ pay-TV channel, to its almost 300,000 subscribers in Southern California.

It’s unclear if the move will convince Southern Nevada pay-TV providers such as Cox Communications and DirecTV to carry the channel — which has been blacked out locally since its inception before last season — but, according to the Los Angeles Times, “Charter’s switch could put pressure on the other providers to pick up the channel.”
