Duane Below allowed just seven hits and one earned run in a complete-game performance over Colorado Springs as the Las Vegas 51s picked up a 9-2 Pacific Coast League victory at Cashman Field on Monday night.
Below struck out two and didn’t walk a batter to improve to 4-2 on the season.
The Sky Sox struck first with an unearned run in the third inning as Scooter Gennett drove in Yadiel Rivera on a groundout.
Johnny Monell plated two runs with a double in the bottom of the inning as Las Vegas (28-17) took the lead for good.
Monell drove in four runs and went 2-for-3 to improve his average to .410 on the season.
Alex Castellanos and T.J. Rivera each drove in a pair of runs for the 51s.
Shortstop Matt Reynolds went 3-for-5 and scored two runs, though he committed an error and was caught stealing.
Brooks Conrad had two hits and scored three times.
Shane Peterson had two hits and drove in a run for Colorado Springs (16-27). Rivera also had two hits.
The series continues at 7:05 p.m. today.
