UNLV gets first series win at San Diego State since 2007

The Rebels (22-24, 8-16) won two of three games in the weekend series, marking their first series win at San Diego since 2007.

Seby Zavala’s two-run double opened the scoring in the fourth inning for the Aztecs (31-18, 17-10). But UNLV answered with Squier’s bases-clearing hit in the sixth, and Squier came home on Erik VanMeetren’s single.

Andrew Yazdanbakhsh went 3-for-4 for the Rebels, who had an 11-10 edge in hits. VanMeetren went 1-for-1 and drew four walks.

UNLV freshman Blaze Bohall (6-2) held San Diego State to two runs on eight hits and one walk in five innings.

Aztecs starter Marcus Reyes (6-3) was charged with three runs on seven hits and four walks in 5 1/3 innings.

Chase Calabuig and Ty France had two hits each for San Diego State.
