Man injured after SUV rollover crash in western Las Vegas Valley

Las Vegas police are investigating a crash that left a man hospitalized after a crash involving a stolen car in the west valley Saturday afternoon.

Officers were called at about 12:30 p.m. to the crash at Harmon Avenue and Spring Valley Parkway, east of Rainbow Boulevard, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Ken Nogle said.

Investigators believe a man driving an SUV crashed into another vehicle, causing minor damage. When the SUV driver attempted to flee “at a high rate of speed,” the man lost control, and the vehicle rolled over, Nogle said.

The driver was thrown from the SUV and was hospitalized. He is expected to survive, Nogle said. Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.

Investigators later learned the SUV was stolen, and the driver was booked in absentia, Nogle said.

“A corrections officer will be at the hospital with him until he can be processed at (Clark County Detention Center),” he said.

Further details were unavailable Saturday night.
