2 apps help with Las Vegas street, lot parking

The city of Las Vegas announced its collaboration with two new mobile parking apps Thursday, allowing metered parking customers using city meters and some city parking lots to pay through cellphones.

Customers can pay through the Parkmobile app for on-street parking meters and the PassportParking app for city parking lots, according to the city.

The apps also send reminders when meters are close to expiring.

While all on-street meters are included in the program, only eight city parking lots are included so far. They are Goldspike Lot at 208 Las Vegas Blvd. N., Carson Lot at 200 S. Las Vegas Blvd. S., Matlock Lot at 408 E. Clark Ave., DTC Lot at 300 N. Casino Center Blvd., Downtowner Lot at 108 N. Eighth St., Container Park Lot at 146 S. Seventh St., Llama Lot at 900 Fremont St., and the Symphony Park Lot at 850 W. Clark Ave.

More information on the new apps can be found at www.lasvegasnevada.gov/parking.
