Nevada inmate dies in prison

An inmate died Jan. 1 in Carson City, the Nevada Department of Corrections announced Monday.

Robert Haase, 78, was housed at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City. He died at the center’s regional medical facility, the corrections department wrote in a release.

Haase was committed from Washoe County and was serving consecutive sentences of two to five years for statutory sexual seduction and five years to life with the possibility of parole for use of a minor in producing pornography. He had been in prison since February 2003.

The coroner from the Carson City sheriff’s office will determine Haase’s cause of death. His next of kin were reached after an exhaustive search, the release said.
