Parts of Las Vegas see small hail, storms on Easter Sunday

Updated April 12, 2020 - 9:58 pm

Pea-sized hail fell in the west and southwest sides of the Las Vegas Valley on Sunday afternoon.

As of 9:30 p.m., McCarran International Airport had received 0.11 of an inch of rain, but National Weather Service meteorologist Trevor Boucher said the Spring Valley area saw at least a half-inch.

One report of hail came from near West Sunset Road and South Durango Boulevard about 1:45 p.m.; the other was from the Summerlin area about the same time. Boucher said there were many reports of hail covering the roads near U.S. Highway 95 and state Route 165 south of the valley.

Boucher said the Las Vegas valley could see scattered sprinkles of rain through the night, but skies should clear up by the morning.

.

The high Sunday was 74 degrees, Boucher said. Monday will be sunny with a high near 72, with temperatures climbing to 79 degrees by the end of the week.
