Boy hit, critically injured by vehicle in southwest valley

A child was transported to the hospital in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle in the southwest valley Thursday night.

It happened about 6:05 p.m. near the intersection of Jones Boulevard and Russell Road, according to Metro.

The boy, whose age wasn’t released, was transported to University Medical Center.

Southbound Jones Boulevard from Russell Road to Hacienda Avenue is closed while police investigate the crash.

The driver stayed at the scene.
