Power outage hits UNLV, nearby Las Vegas residents

A power outage near UNLV on Tuesday evening left hundreds of people without power, according to NV Energy.

UNLV announced via social media about 8 p.m. that power on campus had been restored. Damage to equipment caused the outage shortly after 4:30 p.m., according to the power company.

Others were still without power due to the outage, and power was expected to be restored to about 450 customers by 9:30 p.m.

The outage caused a temporary loss of power in several university buildings on the west side of campus, including Lied Library, UNLV said in a tweet.
