Palms to host UFC title bout in December

Demetrious Johnson will put his UFC flyweight title on the line at the Palms in Las Vegas on Dec. 3.

The venue had been the rumored home for “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 24 finale card and was confirmed by UFC officials on Monday.

Johnson will face the winner of the tournament, which was filmed in Las Vegas and is currently airing Wednesday nights on Fox Sports 1.

The competitors are champions from various regional organizations from around the world vying for a UFC contract and an immediate title shot against Johnson, who has won 10 consecutive fights and successfully defended his belt eight consecutive times.

The Pearl at The Palms has hosted 16 previous UFC events, but none since December 2014.

A flyweight contender bout between Henry Cejudo and Joseph Benavidez, who are coaching the teams on the reality show, will also be on the card.
