Two men and a woman are accused of “setting up” a man to be robbed and then stabbing him to death, Las Vegas police documents show.
In an arrest report, the Metropolitan Police Department accused Jose Melvin Franco, 25, Dorie Henley, 25 and Andrew Henley, 21, of coordinating the deadly robbery. The report said police found Jose Juan Garcia-Hernandez dead in the road with multiple stab wounds about 10 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Soprano Lane and Cory Place, near Charleston and Jones boulevards.
Officers accused Franco and both Henleys of murder in his death. They were booked Sunday into Clark County Detention Center, where they were held Wednesday night on $682,000 bail.
According to Metro’s arrest report, Dorie Henley persuaded Garcia-Hernandez to meet her for a “date,” intending to lure him to the area for Franco and her brother, Andrew Henley, to rob him.
Andrew Henley told police in an interview that all three had planned the robbery. He said Franco stabbed Garcia-Hernandez several times with a metal object during a scuffle before they stole his phone and his white Pontiac Grand Prix.
The report said the Grand Prix was found at Franco’s house. Police said the car’s interior was burned “in an obvious effort to conceal evidence related to this investigation and conceal the perpetrator’s identity.”
Phone records showed several outgoing calls from Garcia-Hernandez’s cellphone to Dorie Henley’s phone number.
The report said two unnamed sources tipped police to her involvement. One source said she said she helped plan the robbery because she needed the money to pay for food and diapers. The source told police her plan was to take Garcia-Hernandez’s wallet as Andrew Henley and Franco stood nearby, the arrest report said, but Henley called for help when Garcia-Hernandez noticed what she was doing and tried to stop her.
The second source said Dorie Henley later called to say “watch the news” because she had done something near Charleston and Jones, police said.
In an interview with police, she said she had Garcia-Hernandez drive her to the area of Soprano and Cory, where he was later found dead. She told Metro she walked away as her brother and Franco approached and attacked Garcia-Hernandez.
When interviewed by police, Franco changed his story twice before confirming that he and Andrew Henley attacked a man who was with Dorie Henley, Metro’s report indicated. But he said he was high on Xanax at the time and didn’t remember who stabbed Garcia-Hernandez and whether they took his car or property.
