Las Vegas shooting victim: Carrie Parsons, Seattle

Updated October 11, 2017 - 5:11 pm

Carrie Parsons’ friends will never forget her contagious laugh.

One day at work at Ajilon Professional Staffing in Seattle, Parsons did cartwheels across the office, and her shirt came up. Parsons and the small staff collapsed in a fit of giggles, said former coworker, Hannah Slater.

“I hear her laugh every day,” Slater said.

Parsons was one of 58 people killed in the attack on the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas on Oct. 1. She was 31.

A resident of Seattle and grew up across the Puget Sound on Bainbridge Island, Parsons graduated from Bainbridge High School in 2004 and from Arizona State University in 2008, according to a Facebook post from the college’s alumni association.

Parsons had recently gotten engaged in Hawaii to her boyfriend of two years, Slater said.

Parsons also took classes at the Art Institute of Seattle, where she took design classes with instructor Diana Bennett Wirtz Kingsley. The two shared a ferry commute from Seattle to Bainbridge Island for over a year.

“It was hard not to like her, as she had a lively big personality,” Kingsley said. “… She was a delightful person.”

Parsons was on a girls trip to Las Vegas with friend Carolyn Farmer at the Route 91 festival. Farmer posted a remembrance of her friend on country artist Eric Church’s Facebook page on Oct. 3.

“She loved your music,” Farmer wrote. “I think she had been to about 10 of your concerts, including when you played at tractor tavern in Seattle before you got big.”

Parsons had posted a photo collage on Instagram and Facebook on Saturday with pictures of herself and Church on stage at the festival.

“Night made!” her post said.

Farmer continued: “I feel peace knowing she was living life until her last moments, loving country music.”
