Las Vegas tattoo artists still in the ‘Ink Master’ competition

Our four Las Vegas tattoo artists are safely still in competition on the Spike cable TV series “Ink Master” after last night’s (Aug. 29) 12th grueling — and highly unusual — episode. They are battling for the $200,000 cash grand prize and the title of Master Shop.

Basilica Tattoo of Las Vegas represented by Christian Buckingham and Noein Wheeler and Clean Rock One and Aaron Is of Golden Skull Tattoo of Las Vegas continue on next week to fight against four remaining tattoo parlors from New York , Virginia, Arizona and Arkansas.

The remaining contestants last night (Aug. 29) had to compete in a six-hour elimination challenge for the ultimate test of placement by tattooing an armpit of the human canvas volunteers. The judges KO’d Allegory Arts of Alabama from further competition.

On next Tuesday’s (Sept. 5) episode of “Ink Master” the competition puts the old saying, “the customer is always right,” to the test when the artists must sell themselves to their human canvases for the chance to tattoo them.

The artists are being put through a series of tattoo challenges that are not only designed to test their technical skills but also their on-the-spot creativity, as they must create and execute an original tattoo on a human canvas. Each episode focuses on a different and distinct style of tattooing, and while the masterpieces these artists create will last a lifetime … so will their mistakes.

The contestants face a tough panel comprised of musician, filmmaker and artist Dave Navarro, in addition to world-renowned tattoo artists Nuñez (Handcrafted Miami) and Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).
