PCL honors 51s outfielder Brandon Nimmo with player of the week award

Outfielder Brandon Nimmo was honored as the Pacific Coast League’s Player of the Week on Monday after going 14-for-31 (.452) last week.

Nimmo had six extra-base hits over the week and helped the 51s snap an eight-game losing streak with a walk-off home run on Aug. 16 against Round Rock. That was one of two home runs he had hit in that game.

Since being sent down from the Mets, Nimmo has hit .409 in 10 games and sports a .490 on-base percentage. He currently sits second in the PCL hitting .345 on the season, just behind teammate T.J. Rivera (.347).

This is Nimmo’s first PCL Player of the Week award and to win it, he narrowly edged out teammate Michael Conforto, who hit .548 (17-for-31) over the week. Like Nimmo, Conforto was recently sent down by the Mets. Since that time, Conforto is .571/.605/.943 with seven multi-hit games in the eight games he’s registered an at-bat.
