Sebastien Silvestri to work as senior VP for SBE in Miami

Updated April 27, 2017 - 3:59 pm

We’ve finally learned why food and beverage king Sebastien Silvestri ends his multiyear run at The Venetian and The Palazzo and moves to Miami after his last day on the Strip on Saturday.

Sebastien has been appointed senior vice president of F&B at SBE in Miami under the control of Sam Nazarian, owner of 25 hotels as far afield as London and Istanbul and Seattle to South Beach, including the Hyde, Mondrian and SLS Hotel groups.

SBE is currently in advanced merger talks with Hakkasan Group and its nightlife ventures around the world.

BRITNEY’S ASIAN STOPS

Axis at Planet Hollywood headliner Britney Spears has signed on for three shows in Japan, plus shows in Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, The Philippines and Singapore. It’s her first performance in Thailand and her first in Singapore in nearly 20 years.

Britney will be in Asia during June and July. This weekend, our “Britney: Piece of Me” Strip headliner will receive the first-ever Icon Award at The Radio Disney Music Awards.

NEW RESIDENCY SHOWS

Next week will see announcements of new shows headed to the Strip. The Tropicana will announce a new residency, and The Venetian has signed a major international group for a limited-engagement run this fall.

THREE-IN-ONE

Celine Dion lookalike and soundalike tribute artist Elise Furr combines a welcome home, going away and belated birthday bash at Kenny Davidsen’s show at Tuscany Suites on Friday. The “Legends in Concert” star who moved to Hawaii to headline “Legends” there is off again.

But she has one more blast before her travels. Elise has lined up more than a dozen singers, comedians and entertainers to join Kenny and her for “A Sexy Night of Indecision.” Elise will sing, too, as Kenny plays piano.

OVERSEAS TRAVELS

Our resident Hard Rock Hotel DJ and electronic violinist Lydia Ansel heads off this weekend to spin her sounds in Dubai and before returning here from the weeklong trip will stop in London, England.

FREE CONCERT

Former Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil, who flew in Wednesday from his home in Nashville for tonight’s Keep Memory Alive “Power of Love Gala” where he will be recognized for his $783,000 donation from his “Celebrity Apprentice” success, is coming home for Memorial Day. He’ll perform a free concert at Downtown Grand on May 27. Tickets: DowntownGrand.com.

REHAB REOPENS

It’s the mother and originator of all dayclub pool parties. Rehab opens officially this weekend with a two-day superstar blast. Flo Rida is first Saturday, followed by comedy-actor Kevin Hart on Sunday.

Bikini-clad servers will be firing magnums of champagne from spray guns, and “Magic Mike Live” cast members from nearby Club Domina will be in the crowd. Who knows if the show’s creator, Channing Tatum, will stop by?

HOOTERS CLOSES

It’s time to say goodbye to the beautiful girls in their trademark orange shorts and white tank tops at Hooters at The Palms. Believed to be the largest Hooters in the world, it is set to close in the middle of next month as new hotel owners Station Casinos revamp and upgrade venues.

Hooters at The Palms took the space once occupied by the Garduno’s Mexican restaurant before it became the ladies-themed sports bar and eatery Heraea operated by STK. Heraea lasted less than a year before Hooters took it over.

PAINTING LESSONS

Three-year-old giraffe Ozzie at Lion Habitat Ranch near The M Resort has an artistic streak about him often picking up brushes, paint and canvases to make designs. Now he’s getting lessons to improve his technique.

Artist Donovan Fitzgerald of Vignettes Arts is his new mentor for painting lessons. Ozzie’s work will go on display, and a portion of paintings sold will benefit the nonprofit habitat ranch.
