Sir Elton John cancels Colosseum shows through May 5
April 24, 2017 - 3:03 pm
Due to a serious medical situation, Sir Elton John has been forced to cancel his performance schedule for the April-May run of “The Million Dollar Piano” at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Canceled show dates are Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and May 1 and 3-5.
During a recent tour of South America, Sir Elton contracted a harmful and unusual bacterial infection. On his return flight home from Santiago, Chile, he became violently ill. Upon returning to England, his doctors in London admitted him to a hospital, where he underwent treatment to remove the infection.
After spending two nights in intensive care, followed by an extended stay in the hospital, Elton was released from the hospital Saturday and is now comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice.
A spokesman for “The Million Dollar Piano” star said: “Infections of this nature are rare and potentially deadly. Thankfully, Elton’s medical team identified this quickly and treated it successfully. He is expected to make a full and complete recovery.”
Elton will be returning to his schedule of live performances in Twickenham, England, on Saturday, June 3. “I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them. I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well,” said Elton.
Elton, Caesars and AEG Live apologize for any inconvenience this causes ticketholders. “The Million Dollar Piano” is entering its final year of performances, ending its run in May 2018. The show resumes performances in October, and the show schedule will be announced and go on sale soon. For performance dates, visit EltonJohn.com and TheColosseum.com.
