Woman was about to move out of Henderson home prior to apparent murder-suicide
The woman killed in an apparent murder-suicide Monday night in Henderson was moving out of her residence, police said.
Police responded to the 2800 block of Blythswood Square in Anthem Highlands after an unnamed female relative requested a welfare check for a woman living at that residence, Henderson police said. Responding officers entered the home after their attempts to contact the occupants went unanswered.
Inside, police found the body of the 41-year-old woman who had apparently been shot, along with the body of a 38-year-old man who had suffered an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said. The man and woman were married, police said.
“The woman, who was in the process of moving out, came to the house Monday to retrieve some items,” Henderson police said in a statement. “At some point, the man apparently pulled out a handgun, shooting and killing the woman.”
Police said the woman’s 14-year-old daughter from a prior relationship and the couple’s 9-year-old daughter were with relatives and not at home during the shootings.
Henderson police spokeswoman Michelle French said police had responded in August to a nonviolent family dispute at the house.
