Man accused of taping kids to chairs, making them watch ‘Mommie Dearest’

A Nebraska man is facing felony charges of child abuse and false imprisonment after he duct-taped his girlfriend’s children to chairs, KETV reported.

Glenn Oliver, 29, was babysitting his girlfriend’s children when he decided to duct tape them to their chairs as a means of controlling them. Oliver told police his girlfriend had instructed him to have the children watch the film “Mommie Dearest” if the kids “were not cooperating.”

A neighbor who frequently visits the home stopped by and saw what Oliver had done to the children. She immediately took a photo of the boys with her cell phone and sent it to police.

Soon after, she devised a plan to rescue the boys from the home. As such, Otoe County attorney David Partsch says, ” [She] asked the caregiver if she could take the boys over to her own home to help clean and he didn’t have a problem with that.”

In his affidavit, Oliver stated his reasoning for taping the boys was that “he was tired and frustrated, because they were not minding him and would not calm down.”

All three of the woman’s children have been removed from the home.

Police arrested Oliver for felony child abuse and false imprisonment. Oliver had served time earlier this summer for drug charges and was on parole at the time of the incident.
