Boy dies after being beaten for eating birthday cake
A 9-year-old boy died Sunday after police say he was beaten by his mother’s boyfriend for eating cake without permission.
The boy was hospitalized June 30 at Children’s National Medical Center in Maryland in critical condition, the Washington Post reported.
The mother’s boyfriend, Robert Wilson, reportedly handcuffed the boy and beat him when he ate a piece of birthday cake without permission. The child’s mother was at work when it happened, but arrived before an ambulance. She told police he was “congested” and they left.
They returned when the boy stopped breathing, the Post reported.
Wilson, 30, was originally charged with assault and child abuse but might now face more serious charges.
