Wranglers trio picked as All-Stars
Peter Ferraro is an accomplished veteran in hockey, excelling at every level of the sport, including the NHL, before landing with the Las Vegas Wranglers this season. Daniel Manzato and Tyson Strachan are relative newcomers to the professional game, rookies enjoying success in their first year in the ECHL.
All three players were named National Conference All-Stars on Friday and will represent Las Vegas at the 2008 ECHL All-Star Game on Jan. 23 in Stockton, Calif.
Ferraro, a right wing who leads the Wranglers with 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists), was named a starter for the National Conference.
Manzato, a Swiss goalie, was named a reserve. He leads the league with a .938 save percentage and is third in the ECHL with a 1.97 goals-against average. Manzato, assigned to Las Vegas from Charlotte on Nov. 8, is 9-0-0 with the Wranglers and 11-0-0 overall, two wins away from matching the league mark for most consecutive wins by a goaltender.
Strachan, a defenseman designated as a reserve, is second on the Wranglers with a plus-minus rating of plus-13 and 49 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-3-inch, 220-pounder played the last four years at Ohio State.
