Weaver cements Desert Shields’ victory

Ayoola Weaver’s stick-back basket in the closing seconds finished off Cheyenne’s 34-31 win at Palo Verde on Friday.

The Desert Shields trailed 25-22 entering the fourth quarter, but took a 32-31 lead with 17 seconds left. After a Palo Verde turnover, Weaver grabbed a rebound and scored. She finished with 12 points.

Mikala Pride scored nine for the Panthers.

Shadow Ridge 64, Arbor View 31 — At Shadow Ridge, Elisha Hensey scored 17 points and had eight steals to lead the Mustangs.

LeNette Battle scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half as Shadow Ridge built a 38-6 lead. Cheyana Slocum added 12 points.

Erika Lang led the Aggies with 16 points.

Basic 55, Liberty 48 — At Liberty, Maya Darby’s 3-pointer midway through the fourth quarter gave the Wolves a lead they never relinquished.

Darby had 21 points, Lauren Johnson 16 and Marquichea Burns 13 for Basic.

Amanda Delgado led the Patriots with 15 points.

Silverado 45, Del Sol 11 — At Silverado, the Skyhawks raced to a 24-2 first-quarter lead and cruised to victory.

Silverado’s Shea Collins scored 18 points, and Jessica Schmidt added eight points and 10 rebounds.

Centennial 102, Legacy 40 — At Centennial, Deanna Daniels scored 26 and Alexis Byrd 19 as the Bulldogs routed the Longhorns.

Johnna Brown added 17 points and Dela Jones 10 for the Bulldogs.

Brianna Watkins led Legacy with 17 points, and Kindrea Poole scored 13.

Green Valley 68, Coronado 25 — At Green Valley, Danielle Christenson and Jazmine Jarvis each scored 16 points, and the Gators breezed to a 43-14 halftime lead.

Victoria Naylor added 11 points and 18 assists, Sarah Pickus scored 11 points and Jarvis also had 10 rebounds.

Danielle Boyle scored eight for Coronado.

Mojave 68, Cimarron-Memorial 59 — At Mojave, Chelsea Hopkins scored 30 points to lead the Rattlers over the Spartans.

Clarissa Cannon added 11 points and Jasmine Osteen 10 for Mojave.

Precious Carroll led Cimarron with 15 points, and Karyn Turner added 14.

Tech 54, Foothill 28 — At Tech, the Roadrunners outscored the Falcons 36-10 in the second half to pull away.

Mechel’la Logan scored 19 for Tech and Mesha Phillips added 14.

Danielle Wolfe led the Falcons with eight points.

Mountain View 51, Faith Lutheran 50 — At Mountain View, Ellie Markwardt scored 24 points and Randall Van Kempen scored all of her 20 in the second half to propel the Saints.

Meghann Smith scored 28 for the Crusaders, who led 25-14 at halftime.
