Watch Rays outfielder break up Indians pitcher’s no-hitter — VIDEO
The Butler did it twice on Wednesday night as Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Joey Butler spoiled Indians pitcher Carlos Carrasco’s perfect game with a walk in the seventh inning and broke up the Indians pitcher’s no-hitter with a two-out, two-strike single in the ninth.
In lining a hit just over the outstretched glove of Jason Kipnis, Butler became the second player this season to break up a no-hitter with two outs in the ninth.
Florida Marlins first baseman Justin Bour also broke up Shelby Miller’s no-hitter after 8 2/3 innings this year with a single up the middle and Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Jose Tabata spoiled Max Scherzer’s perfect game when he was hit by a pitch with two strikes and two outs in the ninth inning of the Nationals right-hander’s no-no.
