UNLV’s Esmay named Mountain West Player of the Week
UNLV designated hitter Cooper Esmay was named the Mountain West Player of the Week on Monday after going 4-for-7 with two home runs, six RBIs and three runs scored in two games against UNR.
The junior went 2-for-4 with a two-run single in the Rebels’ 7-1 win over the Wolf Pack on Thursday and belted a solo homer and a three-run shot in consecutive at-bats in Saturday’s 9-7 loss at UNR.
Esmay, third on the team in batting with a .275 average, will help lead fourth-seeded UNLV against fifth-seeded Air Force at 2 p.m. Wednesday in its opener of the MW Championship in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
