Wisconsin prep guard Isaac Lindsey commits to UNLV
When T.J. Otzelberger was South Dakota State’s basketball coach, he recruited Isaac Lindsey and offered him a scholarship after his high school freshman season.
Otzelberger kept recruiting Lindsey even after arriving at UNLV in March, and the effort paid off Wednesday in a commitment to the Rebels.
“I known (Otzelberger) for quite a while and built a great relationship with him,” said Lindsey, who took an official visit to UNLV on Wednesday. “There’s no other coach that I talked to that I’ve built a relationship like him. He’s a great guy like that, and he wants to have a relationship with you and know what’s going on in your life. He’s always believed in me in everything.”

Lindsey, a 6-foot-3-inch guard from Mineral Point (Wisconsin) High School, is the second member of the Rebels’ 2020 recruiting class. Former Durango 6-6 swingman Nick Blake committed June 14.
Lindsey has not been ranked as a recruit, according to 247Sports. He received scholarship offers from Brown, DePaul, Illinois-Chicago, Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin-Milwaukee in addition to UNLV and South Dakota State.
Lindsey averaged 20.5 points last season as a junior and made 48.4 percent of his shots, including 35.5 percent of his 3-pointers.
“(Otzelberger) has always trusted me as a playmaker and scorer,” Lindsey said. “They like to play a fast pace and shoot the ball, and he thinks I fit well in that role.”
