UNLV’s Mellies gets WAC soccer honor
UNLV’s Kyle Mellies was named defensive soccer player of the week in the Western Athletic Conference, the league announced Monday.
Mellies, a graduate of Eldorado High, was named the outstanding player in the Johann Memorial Classic last weekend, anchoring a Rebel defense that shut out IPFW and Howard in a pair of 4-0 wins.
Julian Zamora of Cal State-Bakersfield scored four goals in the tournament and was named WAC offensive player of the week.
