UNLV women’s tennis routs Iowa State

The UNLV women’s tennis team swept Iowa State 7-0 on Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. UNLV (6-3) took all three doubles matches for the first point, then won all six matches in singles play.

Aleksandra Josifoska, ranked 19th, fought off a first-set loss at No. 1 singles for a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) super-tiebreaker win over Simona Cacciuttolo.

■ SOFTBALL — UNLV led early in both its games at the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif., but ultimately lost 4-2 to No. 9 Oregon and 7-2 to Long Beach State. The setbacks capped a long weekend for the Rebels (5-10), who went 0-5 in the tournament.

Tayler Aleman homered against the 49ers for her 100th career RBI, becoming the 10th player in program history to reach that mark.

■ MEN’S TENNIS — UNLV lost to No. 19 Washington 6-1 in Seattle. Gilad Berman notched the lone point for the Rebels (5-4), beating Emmett Egger 6-0, 6-3 at No. 3 singles.
