UNLV roundup: San Diego downs UNLV baseball, 6-3

San Diego exploded for a five-run seventh inning to rally past the UNLV baseball team for a 6-3 victory Monday at San Diego.

The Rebels (17-8) led 3-1 after the fifth, but the Toreros (16-8) got to Mark Shannon (3-1), who took the loss, and Kenny Oakley in the decisive inning.

Shannon and Joey Armstrong each had RBI singles for UNLV.

The Rebels next host Air Force in a three-game series starting Friday.

■ TENNIS — The UNLV men (11-4) swept Southern Utah and Idaho State 7-0 in a doubleheader at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Ace Matias, Gilad Berman and Carlos Di Laura earned singles victories in both matches.

The Rebels next host UNR on Thursday to open Mountain West play.
