UNLV men’s golf team sixth after first round of Mountain West Championship

The UNLV men’s golf team is in sixth place in the 11-team Mountain West Championship after the first day of competition Friday in Tucson, Arizona.

The No. 25-ranked Rebels shot 2-under-par 286 and trail first-place Fresno State by 11 strokes.

New Mexico and San Diego State are tied for second at 8 under, Colorado State is fourth at 7 under, and UNR is fifth at 6 under.

UNR sophomore Corey Eddings is the individual leader by one stroke at 7-under 65 in the 55-player field.

For UNLV, sophomore John Oda and senior Zane Thomas are tied for 13th at 1-under 71, and sophomore Shintaro Ban and freshman Harry Hall are tied for 23rd at even-par 72.
