UNLV men’s golf team finishes sixth in Hawaii tournament

The UNLV men’s golf team shot a final-round 1-over-par 289 and finished in sixth place in the John A. Burns Intercollegiate at Kauai’s Wailua Golf Course.

The Rebels finished the 17-team, 54-hole tournament with a total of 6-over 870.

Texas led wire to wire to capture the team title at 20-under 844. The Longhorns shot 4-under 284 on Friday.

Individually, four players tied for medalist honors at 6-under 210 in the 97-golfer field: Texas’ Beau Hossler and Gavin Hall, California’s K.K. Limbhasut and Hawaii’s Skye Inakoshi.

For UNLV, sophomore John Oda led the way with an even-par 216, which tied him for 18th place. Sophomore Shintaro Ban and senior Zane Thomas each tied for 26th at 218.

Also for the Rebels, freshman Harry Hall tied for 36th at 220, and senior AJ McInerney tied for 49th at 224.
